One of the most common complaints from iPad Pro users is that iPadOS does not fully harness the impressive capabilities of the device’s hardware. However, that looks set to change soon.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the upcoming iPadOS 19 release will introduce significant changes that will bring the user experience closer to that of macOS. As he revealed in his latest Power On newsletter, Apple plans to focus on three key areas: boosting productivity, improving multitasking and upgrading app window management.
“I’m told that this year’s update will focus on productivity, multitasking and app window management — with the aim of making the device work more like a Mac,” Gurman said.
These changes have been a long time coming, as users have long been asking for more professional capabilities from the iPad.
Although no further details have been revealed for now, iPadOS 19 is expected to be officially unveiled on 9 June 2025 during the WWDC opening keynote, alongside iOS 19, macOS 16 and Apple’s other software updates.
