Many owners of the new iPhone 12 reported a significant problem with their devices involving message and SMS notifications. Specifically, those receiving a large volume of messages and iMessages were ‘missing’ some notifications.
According to reports, the problem occurs in conversations with Android users. Many complained that, in group conversations, messages sent from smartphones running Android never reached the inbox on their iPhone 12.
It is not yet clear whether Apple's operating system is responsible for the problem or whether it is an issue with mobile network providers, as they need to update their firmware to support the new smartphones. It is also not yet clear whether there is an iCloud synchronisation issue.
