Fans of Samsung smartphones are eagerly awaiting the launch of the new Galaxy S21 series. So are we! According to new information, the new smartphone series is set to be announced and released in January 2021.
The news has been confirmed by well-known YouTuber Jon Prosser, who revealed that the event will take place on 14 January 2021, when the much-anticipated Galaxy S21, Galaxy_S21+ and Galaxy_S21 Ultra will be unveiled. He estimates that Samsung will release these smartphones around 2 weeks later, and also reveals the available colours: black, grey, white, silver, pink and violet.
As for the renders of the Galaxy_S21 and Galaxy_S21 Ultra, these have already leaked. The manufacturer is doing away with the distinctive curved edges of its screens. Tech experts are expecting features such as 120Hz Super AMOLED Infinity-O displays, IP68 certification, stereo speakers and an in-display fingerprint scanner.
The Galaxy_S21 smartphones are set to launch with Android 11 and One UI 3.1 and will be equipped with the Exynos 2100 processor (Snapdragon 875 in China and the US). The Galaxy_S21, S21+ and S21 Ultra models will feature 4.000mAh, 4.800mAh and 5.000mAh batteries respectively, as well as wireless charging, reverse wireless charging, Samsung Pay, a microSD card slot and HDR10+ video playback.
As for their cameras, the Galaxy_S21 Ultra is rumoured to have a five-camera setup with two telephoto lenses.
Has production of the Galaxy S21 Ultra begun?
Many tech websites suggest that production of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra has already begun and that it will reach the market much earlier than expected. Popular leaker Roland Quandt stated in a tweet that partial production of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra has already begun, although he has not confirmed whether this is mass production or PVT/DVT test devices.
The above rumour could prove true, given that Samsung wants to launch the Galaxy S21 series earlier to offset lower-than-expected sales of the Galaxy S20 series. It is also possible that it will merge the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note ranges to place greater emphasis on the popular Galaxy Z series of foldable devices. According to other analysts, the Galaxy S21 launch aims to take advantage of the gap in the market created by developments at Huawei. So, although the information has not yet been confirmed, we could see the Galaxy S21 series on the market in late December 2020.
